What is a cinematic couple photoshoot?

Hi, I am Olga- a Mexico City couples and engagement photographer with a focus in cinematic, film-inspired sessions for travellers and locals. For me, “cinematic” is not only about lights or stunning backgrounds; it’s a symbiosis of atmosphere, intimate moments and small movements, carefully captured so they feel like a scene from a film. We play with moody night streets, car lights, reflections and artificial lights that I use for almost all my sessions. Whether we’re indoors or outdoors, I try to create a little story around the two of you.

Mexico City itself already feels like a movie – its streets, colours and energy are the perfect backdrop for cinematic couple photos.

Best timing

Blue hour is my favorite time to start: just before it gets completely dark, when you can still see shapes and details around you, but the city lights are already glowing.

Some of my favorite areas for couple sessions are:

• Roma & Condesa — art deco buildings, cozy cafés and bars, moody light and architecture with a bohemian energy.

• Centro Histórico — cathedral arcades and old streets with dramatic light and historic architecture.

• Coyoacán & San Ángel — cobblestone alleys, plazas, colourful houses and tiny, cozy streets.

• At-home sessions — your apartment, balcony, rooftop in CDMX or a boutique hotel where you can truly feel comfortable while I set the lights and create a cinematic mood.

We’ll choose locations together based on the vibe you’re aiming for - walkable, safe places with a cinematic touch.
