Cinematic Anniversary Photoshoot in Roma Norte
Colton & Hannah — First Anniversary

Colton and Hannah are a young married couple who reached out to me with something very special in mind: this was going to be their first anniversary photoshoot, and they wanted to do something unique. They were visiting Mexico City for the first time, and when they discovered my cinematic photography style, they wanted to try something new and see the city from a different perspective — especially at night.
I suggested an evening photoshoot in Roma Norte — a bohemian, atmospheric neighborhood of Mexico City.
For me as a Mexico City–based photographer, Roma Norte is one of the best places for night couples — with its textured facades, cozy streets, charming cafés, and cinematic corners.

Capturing movement, connection and emotion
We began at Plaza Río de Janeiro— a classic spot with beautiful architecture and street life in Roma.
I asked them to walk along the street while the city lights and passing cars played their part. Some of my favorite images from the session are exactly from that moment — them walking together, laughing softly, him gently pulling her closer — with the motion of the city around them.
Throughout the session, I focused a lot on natural movement. I rarely ask my couples to stand completely still; instead, I encourage them to walk, turn, spin, hold hands, bump shoulders, and interact with each other and the space. It’s important to me that the photos don’t feel stiff or overly posed.
I want connection, emotion, dynamics, and all the little gestures between my couples to come through naturally.
We stopped whenever the light or the background felt right, and I brought in some artificial lighting to make the atmosphere even more cinematic.
Our session turned into a relaxed evening walk — talking and laughing a lot. We explored several beautiful streets like Tonalá and Colima, discovering new corners together.
